While there were plenty of european-based inspirations for art nouveau, from study of medieval art to the pre-raphaelites, one of the larger inspirations for the form this art movement would take was Japanese Woodblock Printing. The wave of enthusiasm followed the forced reopening of trade.

Did you know? Art Nouveau sought to break down the barriers between the fine arts, like paintings and sculpture, to more applied arts in everyday life. So in addition to many well-known pieces being advertisements, the aesthetics were applied in architecture, including that inside the RMS Titanic

We'll be working in a lot of history and facts alongside the art to help with inspiration!
