So far there are 5 with another on its way. The TV show covers the original trilogy. While I'm happy to keep reading about Matthew and Diana, the original trilogy is a complete story.

The books are great and fill in some of the gaps in the show (though the show is an adaptation, not an exact retelling. There are a number of differences.)

The books are meatier, but I enjoy the show. I, too, have gone down the MG rabbit hole!

Yes, it wraps up the original trilogy just fine. Two more books have been written since then , but I think the original trilogy feels like a complete story
