My character has way too much art, but let me offer my Schnauzer as something interesting to draw. He’s a goofball, old man in a puppy body.
It can look really silly, but I made this plush part a year ago, but I marked every 5th row, so when I come back this year, I know where to align my plush legs and wings.
I do recommend the lockable kind of markers, but you can also use paper clips if none are handy.

It’s quite an easy pattern to follow, the fiddliest part is just seaming everything together, and even that is forgiving & allows for a lot of customization.
Two prior dragons, as an example.
I ended up adding rows on all wing panels, because I tend to use a Medium yarn and the shape just works.
