Speaking of #booksky, I have my very own book coming out this April! It has 52 #embroidery patterns inspired by wildlife and wildflowers. From beginner to advanced I think any nature lover will find something in this book! Available for preorder anywhere books are sold, or request at your library!
STICKERS!!!! I’m in love with them! They are transparent on the edges, so it looks like you’ve got a bear/owl/bat stitched on whatever needs something bad ass on it.

Wrapped up my intermediate embroidery class last week and my students absolutely killed this pattern, truly it’s hard to tell which the example piece is 😂 I LOVED teaching this class and all of the unique stitches!

Walleye! I stitched this custom hat for someone that wanted a really special gift for their walleye biologist partner and I was so thrilled with how it turned out!

Another day, another #scenicspecies hat! A crested Cara Cara on the beach! I was in Texas for that big freeze a few years ago and watched one of these birds pick at some frozen fish that washed up.

#sensoryart for February day 11! More squirrels because I just can’t get enough of them. These cuties are red squirrels. 🐿️

Those embroidered fluffy tails use a stitch called turkey work!

In third grade I got sent to the hallway because I couldn’t contain my laughter over the Gulf of Alaska and was disruptive, I thought it was a joke about the Gulf of Mexico. But now Gulf of America is the actual joke and it’s all come full circle I guess and sadly it’s not funny, it’s stupid.

#blueskyartshow today is #reflections. I’m reflecting on my time spent watching Cara Cara’s on the texas gulf shore, reflections in the water, and on my past #scenicspecies series. Hard not to absolutely love this one.

Participating in #fishyfeb, here is another of my #scenicspecies series. Based on a tide pool, depicting a little sculpin, gumboot chiton, anemones and ochre sea stars. This one remains unclaimed, and currently discounted! If you are a tide pooler, maybe it’s the hat for you!

Second hat I’m sharing from my #scenicspecies embroidery series, an orca emerging in front of glaciers in Alaska. This was something I witnessed several summers ago and will never forget! ✨pure magic✨

Can’t wait to share these hats from my all time favorite project with you. The theme was #scenicspecies and told a story of an animal and their place I have had the privilege to visit. Here we have the Grand Canyon and a elusive Gila Monster.

Had to dig a bit for #februarty day 4: purple! This hat was such a breakthrough moment for me, I really felt something big coming on. Stitched back in 2021, pikas and surrounding wildflowers were an obsession of mine. I hope this hat is still going on adventures!

One of my earlier embroidery pieces, also one of my biggest! That fluffy turkey work squirrel tail took me forever. This was a holiday gift for my squirrel loving brother!

Pronghorns are one of my favorite mammals, paired with goldenrod, perfection in my mind. Here are a pair of blundstones I stitched, and the patterns will be in my upcoming book “The Field Guide to Embroidery” so you can stitch your own.

I love reading. And I love talking about the books I’ve read with friends. #booksky, here are my January reads! I made myself a goal of reading 40 books this year, and I’m bumping it up to 50 after this month!

An adorable little stitched Sanderling on a bright sunny beach. I love to watch these fluffy ping pongs on legs sprint in and out of the waves looking for snacks.

My intro and intermediate embroidery students came into class with their heads hanging low, feeling out of sorts yesterday. I was right there with them. I put on cheery music and we got to stitching, by the end of class we left smiling. I really think art is healing, and my students are killing it.

My favorite thing to do on Bluesky right now is search #embroidery and hype up as many people as I can! It feels good to make something with your hands. Proud of you all. Make art!
