The right of jurors to vote to acquit for reasons of conscience is baked into the entire jury system. Jurors who cannot also judge the law cannot be free to judge the facts. #jurynullification
in criminal cases, the law and fact being always blended, the jury, for reasons of a political and peculiar nature, for the security of life and liberty, are intrusted with the power of deciding both law and fact.

If I were very rich and wanted to use my money to protect American liberties, I'd build on the grand jury momentum we're seeing by taking out ads everywhere I could to educate Americans about jury nullification so every juror going forward knows it's an option.

but the case went to trial on the misdemeanor jury tampering charge. After a trial involving several defects, Wood was convicted by a jury of misdemeanor jury tampering, even though no jurors were seated and no jury trial took place on the day he was pamphleting.

He was originally held on $150,000 bond, and was released after paying $15,000 by credit card. The bond was later cancelled and the $15,000 returned to him (leaving him responsible for several months of interest charges). The obstruction of justice charge was dismissed by a judge

Two days before Thanksgiving in 2016, Keith Wood was arrested and charged with felony obstruction of justice and misdemeanor jury tampering for sharing FIJA’s Your Jury Rights: True or False? brochure on the public sidewalk adjacent to the Mecosta County Courthouse in Michigan.

A judge in the courthouse issued an order restricting First Amendment activity in key areas of the grounds outside the courthouse, including peacefully sharing FIJA brochures.

Mark Iannicelli and Eric Brandt were arrested and each charged with seven counts each of felony jury tampering for sharing FIJA’s brochures in the public area outside of the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse in Denver, CO. The charges were all dismissed by the court.

James Babb and company were harassed several times at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown, Pennsylvania with lies. For instance, they were told to leave because of an anti-soliciting ordinance, which turned out not to apply since no financial transaction was involved.

The individual at the time happened to be serving as a juror on a trial, which ultimately resulted in acquittal. Lamb was prosecuted for jury tampering and demanded his right to trial by jury. His jury acquitted him.

In the midst of his campaign for Greene County Sheriff, Luke Lamb was prosecuted for sharing a link to fija.org and making other comments on jury nullification on Facebook in response to inquiry from a friend.

In September 2012 Kirsten Tynan was threatened with arrest for handing out FIJA literature. She asked where she might hand out brochures. First the marshal told her she could hand them out at the library several blocks down the street...

Yet Mark was arrested and charged with contempt for violating both orders. Schmidter was not permitted a trial by jury. Instead, he was tried by the judge whose orders he was alleged to have violated, found guilty, and sentenced to several months in jail with additional fines.

He later followed up with another order defining an obscure “free speech” zone. These orders were not uniformly enforced.

During a long-term FIJA general education campaign in Florida in 2011, the high-profile trial of Casey Anthony began. As a result, Judge Belvin Perry issued an onerous anti-free speech order prohibiting our pamphleteering at the Orange-Osceola County Courthouse.

Heicklen refused to discuss any case in progress, but arrested and charged with jury tampering. Heicklen eventually managed to challenge the indictment successfully, but the legal harassment nevertheless cost him.

In November of 2010 while Julian Heicklen was sharing FIJA brochures outside the Southern District Court of New York, an undercover FBI agent came out posing as a juror to engage Heicklen in conversation. The agent attempted to entrap Heicklen by talking about current court cases
