That is not an accident. It’s by design. The “right” people are there, however Dem leadership have blocked / stonewalled the ferment of any sort of progressive wing of the party. Now the Mainstream Liberal base is shocked that the reactionaries in charge are not up to meet the moment

Protest alone will only work if there is a political class that is both beholden to its constituents and capable of meaningful resistance.

Yes. We are ALL vulnerable to the allure of passivity in the face of injustice. As a poster bellow said so aptly: A nazi who is motivated not by ideology but out of convenience… is a Nazi non-the less. Going forward, I for one, plan to place all in the same basket.

What I object to is the ridiculous framing of the headline… what worries me is evidently it is necessary to *explain* to liberals that its not only “cartoon villains” who obey or participate in Totalitarian compliance… but …SHOCKER… Rational human beings acting in self-interest / self preservation!

Obeying in advance is so easy to do precisely BECAUSE it is rational… Anyone who needs this EXPLAINED to them is gone already.

Respectfully, I feel that analysis such the article posted should not be behind a paywall. It’s too important to not be able to read. I hope more people on substack begin to adjust accordingly.
