Everybody is struggling.

Be kind. To them. To yourself.

And them be kind some more.

Yeah, I used to write letters. Nowadays it’s just emails and messages. We need to bring it back. Like vinyl records but for distance communication.

They seem to take them seriously, yes!

Stamp art in my hotel. Looking forward to exploring the Belval campus tomorrow - once Luxembourg’s largest steelworks, now a university campus. Our #energylives session will make use of the site, sending people out on sensory energy walks.
Poster with enlarged postal stamp motive of industrial facility, steelworks. Quite sublime for those of us who are into that sort of thing (I am!)

I have arrived in Luxembourg for #SHOT2025. My bag has not. And some other small disasters along the way, but we shall manage.

When everything else fails, I can always go as my todo list. It’s a real eldritch horror.

It is rather humbling to clean up (quite good) autogenerated captions on recorded lectures and be confronted with all your, uh, verbal tics.
Screenshot of video with person speaking and captions that end with «uh».

I just got my first copy of Ghosts Behind Glass and it is beautiful. You all really need to order your copies. You will not regret it. press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/bo...

Also quite annoyed at the «Invalid Handle» notice on my account. It is valid, it validates just fine in the settings, it has not expired, nothing has changed from my side, and it’s all set up through @bsky.app’s own service. I have asked @support.bsky.team to look at it. Grrr.

Starting my online course «Nature & Nation: An Environmental History of Norway Since 1850» today. The timing could have been better since things are ridiculously busy, but I’m still excited about this opportunity! #envhist

Yeah, we stayed in Lansallos, so not far away. Super nice old stone house in a small village. Could walk to the beach. Very quiet at night.

I did find myself dreaming about a few weeks of writing retreat somewhere in Cornwall…

Didn’t try that yet, maybe next time!

Good beer, pasties, cheese, scones, beaches, ruins, National Trust properties, bookshops, telegraph cables, amazingly crazy one-lane farm roads, etc. Loved it.

We saw lots of things in Cornwall, including clay! It was a great week, would love to come back for more.

Very nice, I actually bought her book in a lovely little bookshop in Fowey this summer!
