Additional recent food. Who doesn't enjoy a brined, smoked turkey and a giant charcuterie board experience?

Catching up on some recent food adventures. Apple hand pies and some very tasty sweet potato pie one with toasted marshmallows on top.

This thing where businesses are increasing their prices because they have to but then also deciding that the customer should pay for using a card when a card is the only thing that's accepted is getting to be too much. You don't take cash and you're putting a basic cost of business on me. Bye.

It would seem that the garden has yielded pretty well this week and I need to find something to do with all these tomatoes! ☺️

If I were @jimmykimmellive.bsky.social (and had the means) I'd tell Disney to shove the 'bring back' and go elsewhere or go solo. It's a double-edged sword and I'm sick of hearing about 'ratings' over the actual issue here. Not another penny to Disney no matter what here.

Blasphemous pig, that cannot even pronounce acetaminophen, tells pregnant women if they "can't tough it out" they can have Tylenol. NO SCIENCE in what is being spewed. Says a creature that got a COVID shot on the DL.

Watching government as reality tv makes me feel ill. Misinformation entirely.

Hearing someone speak that in their mind if someone says too much they don't like to hear is/should be illegal is completely insane.
Go back to the playground and fight over toys, sand, and slides there. That mindset and internet troll quality has NO place in government at any level, nor any party.

Still one of my favorite lightning shots from when I lived in Minneapolis. As the season for sights like this winds down I do like to look back at photos like this. Nearly five hours to get that shot. Worth every minute.

I don't care which side you're on as far as party. When it comes to inability to speak with meaning during critical hearings and testimony, and you can't, keep your thoughts together and must reference documents or note cards for every word, you're not prepared and/or not knowledgeable. Just stop.

@cnn.com I appreciate that you show both sides of coins. As a resident of Chicago, I find the Chipocalypse Now meme disgusting and inaccurate. Also, targeting a city that does NOT need military on the ground, nor do we need an advertised 'war' coming to us. Reality TV became US government.

Brown butter basted monkfish, pea puree, béarnaise (yus, it's a bit thin), asparagus, and garden cherry tomatoes and beet microgreens. Yums.

Found a really great fishmonger in the city. Salmon two different ways, fjord trout and halibut over homemade pasta noodles with a simple sauce and some capers.

Thanks to misinformation coming from the white house, like referring to Chicago as a killing field, I got to spend part of a celebration of life ceremony explaining to family that we are perfectly safe where we live in this city. Just STOP creating fear where we need not have that.

@cityofchicago.bsky.social someone talk to the pilots doing test flyovers today, please intervene. People in neighborhoods with busted out windows and while I was outside, one was flying so low and fast that I could feel vibrations through my whole body. Never had this with the Blue Angels.

We shared some surf n turf recently. We got a mistake order of meats and I'll be damned if any of that went to waste.

Mushroom risotto, potatoes, and asparagus sides. I'm now expected to make béarnaise sauce more frequently... What have I done?

Love having a balcony garden! My little summer sanctuary. The snack benefits are a perk as well.

Celebrated Chris's birthday at Oriole this weekend. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing, elegant, and delicious dinner.

The food, staff, parings, and experience is beyond compare.

I'm looking forward to getting this framed.

It was a much needed long weekend. So much so I only got photos of half the food because I made myself put the phone down to present as much as possible.

$1200/mo for health insurance.
$175 in copays across multiple virtual provider options before I can get an inhaler refilled (they want people in the dr office for it).
Work multiple jobs to afford this "coverage".
No PCP appointments available until mid August.

Little taste of the weekend. Despite it making my allergies out of control, the blanket of what looks like snow, but it's actually tree fluff is amazing and beautiful! Also some brined chicken wings. Half dry rub and half with a hot honey on them. Smoked with peach, cherry, mesquite, & hickory.

I feel like I'm watching a very weird dudevorce happen and it resonates more like two overzealous kids having a slap fight on a playground today. 😅

Another year at Maifest in Chicago! Wonderful people, food, and culture. As is tradition, some time playing tabletop skee ball as well. Beautiful sunny day, a great walk, and new garland for my head that will join the others on the wall.
