Slow and steady wins the race (my first 10 years of saving)
..although I must admit that the "high-interest" savings did not bring the best return on investment, it was an easy way to save up equity for a bigger home, while still getting a good night's sleep.

I like to think that my financial focus started during lunch back when I was 25 and a colleague emphasized the importance of having a buffer for unexpected expenses.
Over the next 10 years, I paid extra towards my loans, put money into high-interest savings and some mutual funds.
