Two weeks to go in 2025 and as of today a full two dozen people I have had a meaningful conversation or shared a joke with since New Year's Day have passed through. Mostly elderly folk but still. Death, be not proud.

I have a friend who is on his way to Phoenix with his teenage daughter to attend Americafest. He asked her what she would like for her birthday and this is what she wanted. He was reticent, but curious. He's led an interesting and adventurous life; evidently his daughter is cut from the same cloth.

They loved Hans so much they let him keep his Jewish wife. The movie this came from, kinda a morale propaganda booster, was filmed in Prague in '43 to represent Hamburg because that city wasn't rubble yet. A nostalgic glimmer of street life in a pre-Nazi German port city, within limits of course.
