September 7 marked the US Firefighters' Memorial Day. On the same date this year, the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation held a memorial service in Ottawa (pictured) to honour the fallen.

Today, September 14, is the official day of memorial in Canada (the second Sunday of September).
