25 years ago, I was a new fireman, and one of the 1st things they taught us for incidents involving a car (Ems, accident, etc) is NEVER walk or stand in front of any car.

I’m a municipal fire inspector here in USA.
The only thing I can guess is since it’s a small ski town that probably only has tourists 4 months out of the year (no one there in summer), the village staff is minimal with no fire prevention staff.

I’m a municipal fire inspector and by ordinance, we don’t ever make appointments, with the one exception of day care centers. We would never want the precedent set that it’s ok to open the door for someone dressed as a city inspector. We feel that is a tactic that a criminal would employ.
