Once again, this service is invaluable to someone like me, and I really can't praise it enough.

The former is pretty fascinating to me. She's a folk singer who, despite not being anyone I've ever heard of, has had critical acclaim! Like, she has a page on AllMusic and all that. And the songs you'll find on that FMA page are just live recordings of songs she did for an album.

If you want a good example of everything I've written about so far, just going back hundreds of pages, I've found out about two artists I would have never heard of before:

freemusicarchive.org/music/The_Tw...
Larkin Grimm - Live at wfmu on Dan Bodah's Show on 11/16/2008

...as a matter of fact, I found several of those Bandcamp finds *through* FMA.

It's kind of amazing how wonderful it can be if you know exactly where to look.

Without a doubt, this is something I'm keeping in mind for the "found media" approach I'm going to be testing the waters on.

Like, holy shit, there are entire albums on this thing that sound indistinguishable from the kinds of random finds you'd find a service like Bandcamp. The big difference is, you know licensing information upfront, rather than having to contact the artist and all that.

What I will say is, I kind of love FMA, warts and all. Before I began diving through it, my preconception was that all royalty free music sounded like Kevin MacLeod. Credit to Macleod where it's due: the man did a fine job. There's a reason I held that association.

But it's not true at all.

At least, as far as I can tell.

Instead of seeing the same artist twenty times on one page, I'm seeing a lot of live recordings from radio broadcasts. Girl, remember when people still listened to the *radio*? Hahaha... I was a child back then, don't ask me.

programmer for that matter.

Where there's means, there's a way. Even if it looks, sounds, and plays like shit, at least there's something I can make of it. If it's funny or stupid in any way, I think that matters more to me than if it's, like, *groundbreaking*.

Even if I tried, it wouldn't be.

my *dream project*, I'm just going to unashamedly steal a ton of images off of Google search, pair that with sounds off of Freesound, and find some awkward marriage between the two.

Found media, is that what you would call that? Point is, I don't care that I'm not an artist, or even a (5/?)

Horse game to work without my spaghetti causing it to crash and burn every five seconds?'

Very different states of mind. I can't assure you of that, but I *know*, okay, trust me on that.

I think this sort of thing is what I want to do more often, though. Forget trying to make (4/?)

There is a difference between a game developer and a person who makes games. I don't mean to sound snobby, but I know people who are like, 'I saw my friend playing [X game], and I wanted to recreate part of it because it looked cool!'

Meanwhile, I'm over here, like, 'How do I get this weird (3/?)

a short positive or negative intonation onto the string you were already setting up.

1) It doesn't work like that in the final game because I never figured out how to get it to work,
2) You can only use it *one time* because I forgot to program a reset for it 🤦‍♀️(2/?)

To give you a frame of mind for just how rushed this was:

The core idea of the game—what I was going—is that you have to communicate with the horse using a limited set of vocal intonations (i.e., the coughs). One of my ideas was adding a pause, so you could chain (1/?)
