Apparently yesterday was National Noodle Day! I am a day late and more than a dollar short, but anyways here's one of my chunky noodle gals.

The audacity of Microsoft Word!! ☠️
a word document where "fishes" is underlined by a blue squiggle. There is a grammar note asking if I meant fossil "fuels" instead.

Feel like a fish out of water? Meet the giant mudskipper! This fish needs to breathe air & spends a decent amount of time on land! Found on the muddy shores of mangroves in parts of Southeast Asia, it uses its pectoral fins to “walk” across mudflats.

A photo of a mudskipper hauled out of water and onto a branch. The fish is brownish in color and has unusual facial features.

Surprise, more Kem Kem theropods! Here's a small indeterminate noasaurid, between 2-3m long, known from fragmentary remains. With smaller animals, I am drawn to vivid colours and flashier displays - like the speculative skin flap on the tail. Size comparison below ⬇️
Small noasaurid - it has dark green fuzz on the front half of its body adorned with teal, white, yellow, and orange stripes. On the tail, these colours are mirrored.

Just checked the wiki page for Fish and I think we can do better than a Bala shark... (even tho it does represent the most speciose fish group).

Aside from all the other obvious points it strikes me as particularly cringeworthy to feel you need to put your own face on BOTH sides of the coin

Julius Caesar was the first Roman to put his own living face on coins, weeks before his death. It is one of the deepest cultural signifiers of something autocracies do and republics do not.

“Render unto Caesar.” A practice so notoriously arrogant Jesus himself dunked on it with snarky wordplay.

A job ad with multiple images, including the exterior of the museum, a view of collections (jars on shelves), and pictures of some cool, tropical fish but I don't know enough about fish to describe them other than to say they're pretty colors of yellow and blue/green

There have been two hosts in the history of Reading Rainbow. The Legend of Literacy, LeVar Burton! And... me, Mychal Threets, a librarian 🥹🤯

I am a reader, a librarian because LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow made us believe and see we belong in books, we belong everywhere ✨

Smiling Mychal with hands raised wears an outer space shirt in a library. It is a still from an episode of Reading Rainbow. LeVar Burton smiles with hands behind his head as he lies down on a colorful pile of books. ENEMY PIE book rests on his chest.
