The Cuban Missile crisis did not almost start WW3, America did.
The war in Ukraine was not started by Ukraine re-aligning to Europe and Eastern European countries looking for help from NATO, it started because Russia invaded a sovereign nation.

I’m not American, I’m a Canadian, and if some EU countries were open to putting a couple bases on our border with the US right now I’d welcome it, since your nation has been threatening to invade mine.

That is troubling, though some of this is that it seems we contract out a lot of what in other places is public sector work to non-profits here. Non-profit housing is largely NFP rather than directly Gov here, as is a lot of health and environmental and parks work.

Advocating for a country being invaded by its imperialist neighbour to simply give up is the most wildly privileged shit I can imagine. Ukrainians very clearly do not want that to happen, and they are not simply pawns in the US-Russia conflict that you like to play out in your head.
