I think the ragtag group of stragglers in space trying to make a name for themselves *should* look a little messy.
Also, like, some of the characters *did* have pretty neat looking designs. (Though, again, weird garish shoes in this example.)

Hot take: Concord's character designs weren't that bad. The main problem was the colors & specifically the deliberate mismatching of them. Like, even the hated Daw looked fine (maybe even GOOD) w/ his deluxe edition recolor - though the garish orange boots are still an odd choice.
