Wait, what exactly do you mean by no save files? Backups? Because if so, they aren't on by default but you can turn them on and set your own frequency that you want it to be saved. Really sorry that you lost three days of work though, that sucks...

Hell yeah, Davinci Resolve mentioned! Hope the switch goes well for you, I absolutely love Davinci. You should also check out Affinity, it's probably Photoshop and Illustrator's biggest competitor and it recently became fully free apart from most AI features, which require a subscription.
