No one knows these characters but me. I can't simply draw my characters standing around and expect people to understand them! I have to communicate their stories and who they are as people somehow. Idk sorry for rambling but l'm excited to challenge myself in this way. Idk much to ponder

This meant storytelling in my illustrations was sorta a low priority, because of the assumption that viewers already know these characters and stories well. Working on my own characters is much different and more challenging. I am the one telling the story.

But it's okay cuz I can just draw more! I find this new adventure exciting. It will be a fun challenge! I've gotten too used to drawing fanart- drawing already established characters that people already know.

The warmth she displays on the outside and the cold that is hidden beneath must both coexist in the piece. As her creator, it's my job to communicate through my art what kind of character she is, and I feel like I've kinda failed at that so far?

She’s not!!!! Underneath her soft and sweet surface, she is a somewhat menacing goddess-like figure. This has made my brain think harder and more creatively. I want to make an illustration that more accurately encapsulates who she is as a character.

going to ramble a but about drawing OCs as someone who usually does fanart. Posting OCs again after years of not doing so has been a learning experience for me. l've realized I keep drawing Odette looking super innocent, to the point that I think y'all can only assume she is a saint-like character.

draw from the heart but make sure it’s marketable. post every day if u want to actually be seen. post everything you create. bare your heart and soul publicly over and over again. Don’t think about numbers even tho it directly impacts how much business you get. ANSWER EMAILS!!!! GRAHHHHHHHHH!!!!

btw telling an artist you like their OC/want to see more has a lot more impact than numbers of likes and shares... obv those are appreciated too, but you don't really know what ppl sharing your art think of it unless they tell you. and it feels really nice to know! a kind comment goes a long way :)
