Rage is a valuable emotion, but with these people, it's not leading to anything good, they are just seething and clicking, seething and clicking. Each time I talk to them they get deeper and deeper.

Like, what's happening in the world is upsetting, but these news cycles are designed to engage you by upsetting you. Big emotion means more traffic means more money. And rage is the easiest big emotion to access.
