I have a less abstract understanding of neoliberalism, but even from your definition, wasn't there always a market for news and opinions?

Social media today even stops people from engaging in it, because the recommendation algorithms trap us in echo chambers.

Neoliberalism is an overloaded term, but that was not my point.

I am unsure if I agree with Vlad's general Trump/Putin hyperneoliberalsm analysis. Secondly, I genuinely don't understand the connection to how Trump making politics feel like a surreal reality TV show is connected to it.

I am actually critical of the way you use the term in general. To me, politicians like Ronald Reagan were neoliberal, Trump is not. He is quite the opposite in many ways.
