Govts have been doing this, science even often has the question of what boxes can I put these things into, and the complexity of humanity/nature/the universe gets lost in the quest to understand it. I think she, like a lot of people really, desperately wants the world to be simple to understand - so imposes binary, and the patriarchy, onto it in order to make it “feel right”. It’s easy to see in her books, people fit into 4 houses, that’s it. And this isn’t new, religion has been doing this 1/2
