Advent of Code 2025 Day 5 done!

The Postgres range types are so good, 10/10 made my life very easy tonight. Also enjoyed using the CTE trick to read, delete, and write data to a table in a single statement

Also forgot to post about Day 4, but finished that last night after a bit of tinkering 😰

Advent of Code 2025 Day 3 done!

My Part 1 Solution is extremely fugly, but made good use of a helper function in Part 2 for a more verbose but much cleaner solution

Advent of Code 2025 Day 2 done!

The power of helper functions and bigint prevails :)

Advent of Code 2025 Day 1 done!

Trying to solve problems using Postgres/SQL this year. Day 1 was really easy, but took awhile to figure out exactly how I wanted to structure this in SQL 😅

After a few months off, finally came back to write a technical blog post right before Advent of Code starts up

User-defined ordering is complicated 😅

I cannot remember the last time I wasn't flagged by the TSA body scanner. It happens literally every single time

"give us 15-20 minutes" and then it's still not ready 40+ minutes later. Like it's cool if y'all are busy, just give me a realistic time to come pick it up 😭

Got recognized by a coworker on Blind by "being positive, doing well, and offering to help"

Can't even remain anonymous, just having too good of a time I guess smh

Beat the early access version of Sol Cesto in about 4 hours. Still a bit to do and explore, but got to the end of the run with a pretty strong build and don't feel a need to try for another full run. Really fun chill game!

Back from the cruise, haven't been this relaxed in a long time. Glad I took tomorrow off too

Sailing to Cabo for the next few days, doing absolutely nothing but chilling and reading. Life is good

My local Main Hot Chicken store has updated take-out packaging and it's SO MUCH BETTER than the old packaging. There's a functional lid, the fries come in a bag, and the box no longer leaks. Amazing

14 miles at ~10 min/mile. Not particularly fast, but I felt really good the whole run!

Carrying water sorta sucks until you're a mile away from any pubic water fountain and you've still got a liter of cool water on your back

Wrote about my own custom Genome Browser. It's pretty basic so far, but I'm really happy with how it looks and feels :)

I'm recording timelapses for every submission - this took 41 minutes in real time.

Soon you'll be able to submit your own images to be drawn on my kilopixel! Can't wait to share this with the world and see what y'all come up with

40 miles a week for the next month, trying to build a bit of speed instead of pure volume. Then back to 10% week over week increases for awhile
