Pigs in duvets mind, they sound great
December 25, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Ahahaha fair. I'll stick with "I don't expect I'd enjoy that"?

Is that... marshmallow on top?

It always puts a smile on my face to be the nearby tall person for somebody, I love it

Stuff outside the litrpg harem xianxia wheelhouse can do well there (e.g. Re: Trailer Trash, a slow moving character piece), but they do lower numbers than the core stuff I think?

Royal Road has a good-sized audience but their system is geared to reward super frequent uploads, so if I were you I'd complete a draft then post it up there quite quickly, like, chapter a day or similar

This year we filled the refillable advent calendar with overflow Halloween chocolate, that was a double win

Mate that fight ended as soon as the ban came in and most people who were doubtful about it went "shit, no, this is way better"

Also lbr, to have been to a pub legally when indoor smoking was allowed in the UK you've got to be 40 years old, give or take. It's neither prissy nor youngsters, it's the broad mainstream of middle-aged people going "thank fuck that stopped, it was horrible"
December 20, 2025 at 2:24 PM
When I started going to pubs my parents worried I had started smoking because I reeked of it. They just didn't remember how bad it was, and it seems neither do you.

Our kids enjoy a book called "A Dress with Pockets" where a girl is taken to buy a dress for a birthday treat and rejects them all because she wants pockets. Once the shopkeeper is done fainting, he finds some - and the girl and her aunt get one each. It's lovely

The apostles creed as recited in Church of England services states among other things "I believe in the holy spirit, the holy catholic church" - the CofE is separate from Rome but still sees itself as part of the 'catholic' church.

For my partner the only thing about it that was awful was the surprise - the pain itself apparently wasn't _that_ bad and the lasting impact has been unnoticeable - but I don't think that's true for everyone
December 17, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Yeah, the muscles there - especially if you have good core fitness before pregnancy - can't keep holding together and give baby enough room to grow. So eventually they split
December 17, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Writer/scicomm so also well suited, but she's a bit burnt out on agents/publishers
December 17, 2025 at 12:42 PM
They do surgery on that? We were just told that's happened, end of story.
December 17, 2025 at 12:39 PM
I'll talk to my partner. She has applicable skills and experience, if there's a good shot of getting the result published she might be interested
December 17, 2025 at 12:38 PM
I think it was the splitting of abdominal muscles at ~28 weeks that my partner just...wasn't told about? Until she asked about it afterwards.
Because why would you want to warn somebody things might happen before they actually experience it, right?

My friends who like voice notes get that I don't like them, because I take longer to respond to them than texts or phone calls, and don't send them myself. Then they send fewer voice notes (or contact me less which, whoops, but that was a risk I took by not engaging the way I don't enjoy, right?)

With ours we flag that it's possible sometimes when talking about growing up: "Most girls grow up to be women, but some know they want to be men. Most boys grow up into men, but some know they want to be women". They don't understand how/why but the idea that transition is possible is there

She'd somehow ended up on Admiral Ramsey's staff, which is probably what led to that particular job. Also led to her meeting my granddad, indirectly
December 12, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Amazing story. My grandmother was, I think around April/May '44 entrusted with the keys to the invasion beach models...so she could dust them. The service WRNS gave

I get why, brainworms, but I don't get why the government's reaction to the Supreme Court rewriting the law wasn't "fuck you, that's our job" and passing a law emphasising the Court got it wrong.

And like, to me it's interesting because you can accept the events the Biblical account reports, then interpret it very differently to how the Bible does by assuming this king was acting like other kings we have better sources on, which makes it a very accessible kind of Biblical criticism
December 11, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Josiah being the king under whose rule a lost part of the Law was allegedly found in the temple. Said documents telling the king to do things he'd definitely not have wanted to do anyway like centralise religious observance in Jerusalem where he could control it.
