That was once again a fantastic edition of #SFSCON. Definitely a worthwhile conference, extremely well organized, great talks and meeting old and new friends. See you again next year, and kudos to all the organizers!

Had AI agent pick up the phone at local store today. Drove me nuts, but with a combination of „escalation“, „talk to staff“, coughing & „urgent call back“ I could somehow evade that nonsense and talk to an actual human being. Maybe made life easier for the store, but not for me.

I don’t have Schadenfreude over the #AWS outage. Issues can happen and I feel with their admins. However, it shows us also how important it is to have the option to self-host services and not be forced to use a cloud. Choice matters, #digitalsovereignty matters.

I really love the versatility and flexibility of #MikroTik devices. Had a switch broken (external circumstances) at the office and could easily setup a wifi-to-ethernet bridge with an old wAP ac. Took just few minutes - kudos!

#digitaleSouveränität bedeutet für mich ganz persönlich auch, dass ich Dokumente, Rechnungen und Verträge auch per E-Mail erhalten kann und Support ebenfalls per E-Mail erreichbar ist. Die Nutzung von proprietären Apps, Messengern und Webportalen darf niemals verpflichtend sein.

Heading back from the #OpenSource Conference #Luxembourg. An excellent conference, extremely well organized, and several hundred attendees. Gave a presentation about #LibreOffice and had good conversations. Will definitely be a must for next year! Up next: #SFScon in November.

Any of my followers knows a contact at #instagram to review an impersonated account of a public entity? Name and logo are copied exactly from the genuine account. Reporting in the app is pointless.

Have been struggling with the #Nextcloud app lately on #iOS which told me „unsupported browser“ and didn’t login. Problem seems to be related to 2FA or encryption. If you experience the same: Workaround seems to be an app password - login works fine again with this.

I despair. Almost every mobile mail client you get these days is either „AI-powered“, comes with a subscription model, or both, with one justifying the other. I now use Roundcube in the mobile browser and am quite happy. It’s an e-mail client - heck, I don‘t need AI…
