Didn’t finish yesterday after all. My arthritic thumbs began to stiffen. 🥲

There’s still a much to do for such a small drawing. I’m proud of myself for staying patient thus far.

Coming along. I chose not to draw some of the lines on her face still seen in pencil here. After erasing, she now looks younger.

Sometimes I draw women with big traps because I have superfluous, bilateral cervical ribs and I used my body as reference quite a bit when younger. I only found out recently that my spine and ribs were a little funky. It’s painful 🙃

Here’s a sad post art tax included.

So I decided to try and make an actual good drawing from yesterday’s sketch. I like where it’s going. This time I’ll use liquid ink to avoid smudging.

I miss feeling like putting in effort. That’s what two years of failed paintings will do. Everything feels futile, but I’m trying.

Yesterday was frustrating. I had planned a day of crafting and kept ruining everything. I eventually gave up and made a comfort drawing.

I want to try and make a finished version of this since I like it so much. Sad ink smeared on her face but oh well.

My second completed "fabric collage" (don't know what to call them). I spent a nice amount of time stitching various things this year, and I am happy to finally have made an object I am proud of.

I also made the crochet flower appliques.

My second embroidery sampler(?). I also stitched some crochet flowers to the bottom with the cutest buttons. Detail shot of my favorite section included.

You can see some struggle lol, but I’m happy with it.

I tried to keep an art journal this year, making it to August before quitting. There is a good amount of self-loathing in it so maybe it’s a good thing that I quit.

The finished brush pen/color pencil orchid study from a few days ago. My art used to be so softly and carefully blended. I didn’t have the confidence to make strong marks. I am enjoying the expressive feeling my drawings are developing now.

Brush pen done, but I want more detail and slightly more contrast. Going to try color pencil. This has helped my confidence so far. I failed so many paintings last year and completed 1 lol, so I haven’t been feeling good about my skills. Art is hard.

Base layer. The plant is very very dark, so I should be able to layer it to the right values. The flower is blended with water, while the leaves just have a layer of marker. So far so good.

I have a few reference photos of plants and flowers I’ve taken in the past three years, and I haven’t drawn any of them properly.

I’m venturing into color today, just some brush pens. The sketch came out well and I almost feel bad for not taking the drawing further.

I’ve been practicing making crochet bags for a couple years, and they are starting to come out ok (need more experience adding lining). Decided to give this one a try!

I forgot to share this, but I had to take time off drawing and got really in to my crochet scarf afterwards. I introduced a 6B(?) graphite stick to the mix. Might work on this later…
