On June 19th, 1865, 71 days after Lee's surrender General Gordon Granger stuck the final nail into Slavery in the United States' coffin as he made the Emancipation Proclamation law in Texas. This act officially made slavery extinct in the US.

You may want to look into this as I know you have far superior resources to me. I found one other matchup between Verne Gagne and Eddie Graham. November 7, 1957 in Denver (Auditorium Arena). Gagne defended his US title against the then Rip Rogers.
