Basic income is a reskilling investment. People need time to take courses. @mark-carney.bsky.social himself said we need a system where 40 yr olds can go back to school. They need basic income for that. Without it people get stuck in dead end jobs just for income security.

This has pretty much been set to rest.

No basic income study has found a meaningful drop in work, beyond students and new parents (that's good).

In fact, it boosts employment and education by giving people freedom to think long-term and invest in their careers.

UBI can be designed as a social dividend. We distinguish this from unconditional or guaranteed income that goes to those who need, which doesn't necessarily need to be a dividend.
