My favorite new feature was definitely the sigil system - it was gratifying to have a greater degree of character customization to experiment with. Both the story and characters also feel better-defined here, but I do miss the bleaker atmosphere of Reverie.

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
I don’t think I’ve torn through a book this ravenously in a long time. The cast is massive and the dialogue is a little annoying at times, but it's otherwise really strong. I've GOT to get around to the rest of the series in 2026

Pokemon Master Trainer
I enjoyed this for capturing the appeal of journeying and collecting Pokemon, but I doubt I'll be able to convince my friends to play it again. Even when modified by various homebrew rulesets, the core game is a little too repetitive and simplistic

The set is small enough & the pulls were good enough that I had multiple possible decks to play, but Lucario was too good to pass up. I wish boxes weren't so overpriced, otherwise I'd like to do this kind of draft more often

Ruri Rocks: Introduction to Mineralogy
I’m not super familiar with slice-of-life, so this was a little slower than I was expecting, but it’s so gorgeously animated and the mineralogy facts were so interesting that I didn't mind. Pretty fun

Another really fun draft! I went undefeated with a combo of Vivid Voltage Dhelmise, PAF Xatu, and PAR Orthworm. Clairvoyant Sense is such a powerful ability for limited formats like this.

I'm honestly shocked by how fun this game is. I tolerated the cast, disliked the story, and didn't particularly love the repetition of the ZA Royale, but it got its hooks in me just like any other Pokemon game.
On paper it shouldn't have worked for me, but I still had a blast

This game has basically no redeeming qualities, BUT you get to play as a cool knight that does fancy sword moves, so that was enough to embed it in my psyche as a kid
I don't think I've played any other game with the gall to delete your save data after beating it lol

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger
Solid show! This is my first Super Sentai I’ve watched live, and it was alright. Some of the story beats were underwhelming / weirdly paced, but the great action and likable characters kept me interested. I'm going to miss Taiya, Mira, and Yarucar especially.

An enjoyable mystery hampered by some odd pacing and a slightly bloated cast. Still, the celestial magic vs. sorcery concept was thematically very cool, and Hetty & Benjy were great leads with a lot of chemistry. I won't continue the series, but it was a good time

Steven Universe: Save the Light
Super fun and addictive, and a big improvement on Attack the Light. The updated battle system was a blast; I'd love to see its hybridization of Chrono Trigger and Mario & Luigi combat mechanics in another (preferably harder + less buggy) RPG.

This definitely feels like the way Pokemon was meant to be drafted - I wish I'd tried this sooner. MVPs here were TEF Iron Valiant spreading damage with gemini laser, then DRI Hippowdon compounding it with super sandstorm. I have to host more of these
