Last time I played fallout 1 I got myself stuck trying to kill a deathclaw with a crappy build lol.
And I sure as hell didn't get far in fallout 2 after that lol

Need to revisit them honestly.

Final note, if you do pick up the game there will be a point in which your chosen party members are locked in and you lose the rest (though you can hire mercenaries after that point as replacements).

Still a fair bit of jank: conversations can randomly start with a non-charisma character being the chosen subject, and the party members can be very hit or miss (Slaver Lizard dude or rude murderous elf lady) though the writing on them is still very good (I really like Lohse, the singer)
Solid game

Combat is much more complex than BG3 as, while your party starts in their "classes", your build is more influenced by where you put stats, perks, and skill levels, and your characters have so much more to do in battle than in BG3 due to combat abilities you can perform.

I played DOS2 and it was really fun
Very dark themes, but we already experienced that with BG3
Character creation in DOS2 is a bit limited comparatively and the in game models are certainly dated, as well as the romances not being as fleshed out as BG3. More in the replies.
