Hi :D The black part you can see is a vegan eco-leather made from olives, it's mainly to cover up the stitching. I stitched the beads onto stiffened felt. I have a vid on my Youtube (shorts and full length) that shows an abbreviated 'making of' process.

Its rarely suitable most work, and the strands will have energy in them which makes working with it weird, but can create an interesting effect with colour and texture. Looking forward to seeing your finished berries! :)

:) Good point. I started out oil painting over 20 years ago now, and came to embroidery with the painter mindset, which has both helped and not helped. Something I have done for colour matches when mixing 2 strands together, is twist them before threading, so up close there's a barber pole effect..

This is amazing. Also, I feel your pain, I'm doing a realistic butterfly embroidery that I started last October, but has the same issue as you, despite having over 600+ colours. Only just picked it up again.
