Love that. I think it's time to Retvrn. Back in my day, we had to go to Sam Goody! Tower Records, even!

I've never heard of Qobuz. I used to use Zune music (yes I know) for my Zune HD cuz they would credit 10 tracks a month. Built a big library but lost it when Zune went belly up. Thanks for the info!

Awesome, I'm 40 and have pretty basic metal and hip-hop taste, so I never used Bandcamp other than a single Protest the Hero album. Great article, may ask for a DAP for xmas!

Ok great. I have some old CDs but being able to buy and DL high quality digital would be great, since streaming doesn't always have stuff I have on CD, even non-obscure stuff. Thanks!

I would like to get into this, but is Bandcamp the best place to get digital albums? Does this device need special software for loading music? I use YT music cuz it's $8 for me, but I wouldn't mind buying albums again for better quality.

Make sure you wrap the stems so any any undetected fruit fly eggs don't hatch and take over your kitchen

Good thing Myles did that drop kick, otherwise he would have been on the receiving end of The Flying Nothing

Souls games are trying to force you to gain experience. It's hard, and if you don't fail, you don't learn anything. Change your build, increase/decrease your offense/defense. Learn and grow. They are just games, if it's hard, stick with it or comeback later.
December 2, 2023 at 3:04 AM
Yes! All the time! But in every single scenario, it came down to experience. Either experience with that particular scenario, or experience in other games with a similar scenario. That experience only comes from failing lots of different ways, and then ruling out those routes to solving an issue.

Have you ever played a game that made you walk away from a frustrating section, only to come back to it the next day and complete that section without much effort? Souls games are designed with challenge in mind, not to be unbeatable. It's up to the individual to decide if the challenge is worth it.
December 2, 2023 at 2:12 AM
No I think you're missing my point. The idea is to use accessibility to put everybody on the same level. Everybody has the same opportunity to solve the puzzle. You just have to be patient and determined enough. Challenge creates experience.

If you are taking the wall metaphor literally, then the accessibility options in a game would give you an extra arm, or all alter the placement of your limbs, but the wall does not change
December 2, 2023 at 1:40 AM
That's an accessibility issue, not a difficulty issue. Accessibility is about interacting with the game. Difficult is about surpassing the challenge of the game. These are two different things. I've seen disabled people do better at souls games than I can with a full able body
December 2, 2023 at 1:38 AM
I've seen lots of people talk about difficulty, and describe bosses as puzzles to be solved. How many times have you played a difficult game, surpassed challenges, and realize that the beginning of the game is now easier now that you've made it to the end?
December 2, 2023 at 1:36 AM
I'm not sure I agree with that. You might think of it as a wall climb. It may be difficult, you may fail over and over, but there is only one way over the wall. You have to study the wall that was intentionally designed to allow you to scale it, you just have to get your hands in the right holds.

Interesting point, but I feel souls like games are notable for their difficulty. Would the actual mechanic of going back to pick up your souls when you inevitably die to a difficult enemy, be interesting if you rarely die? Risk of losing souls/progress makes the game tense, then cathartic, right?
December 2, 2023 at 12:44 AM
I've only ever beaten Elden Ring. The first time I saw someone beat a souls game using a fucking guitar hero controller, I knew that the game was not too difficult, (or inaccessible), it was that I hadn't learned the language of the game.

I noticed last night that she moves like a xenomorph in the ring. Limbs always spread out but knees and elbows bent, ready to pounce. You rarely catch her standing upright.
