So I had my dad pick me up this custom MTH BAR steam locomotive. Whoever made this did a not so decent job on it so I’m planning on redoing it. So I looked online and through books for BAR’s moguls and only found these 3

I should clarify, we will be getting 2383 frames. The current frames are 2343/44/45 frames painted black
I can’t stop winning!

Don’t worry, the 2373s aren’t entirely original but we are going to try and make them as original as possible. 2383 frames painted black and replacement 2373 number boards.

The custom BAR cars were a huge surprise too

It’s too pretty. I’ve never been a fan of the looks of the 2368, but after having one in person, I gawk at how rich that blue is. Such a lovely set. Should be running by the end of the week!

Nothing’s better than coming home to a MINT set of 2368s complete with the 2269w set!

The original owner GAVE US this set plus a ton more. He said he bought the set new and only ran them ONCE

We got a RMT beep….

Fits perfectly on the recently converted 2-rail to 3-rail scratch built bulkhead!

I will admit, seeing 2 rail O scale for the first time and getting to hold it was quite cool. But 3 rail’s better and will look great in a complete BAR consist
A recent purchase of my father’s: A scratch-built 2 rail BAR bulkhead flatcar. It is now ready for the superior 3 rail conversion

We first bought this Southern “Crescent Limited” set from the guy and a few other cars to complete sets. I also ordered this Weaver BAR boxcar for cheap on the bay early this week and it came today

I love when trains are free. Yes, I got this custom painted Bangor and Aroostook log car for FREE!! There’s a few pieces broken off, but it’s gorgeous. I saw it when picking up more trains with my dad and the guy said, “you want it? It’s yours!”

IT’S EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE ON LIONEL’S STORE SITE

This is the only thing I’d want. BUT IN NO WAY IN HELL AM I PAYING OVER $400 FOR A LOCOMOTIVE THAT SHOULD BE $260!!

The result of my dad winning this 2339 on eBay was three more items when I went to pick it up on person today….

So I’ve started enjoying civil war reenacting. And my first public event landed me in my happy place for Road to Togus: Remembered at the Wiscasset, Waterville, & Farmington Railway museum

I read Two Feet to the Lakes, I’m just starting Two Feet to Tidewater, then I can read Two Feet to Togus. Great books by the way if you want to learn more about the Maine 2-footers!

I could cry now knowing I own this set. My father worked on this exact 2363 many years ago and was one of the first repairs I remember him doing. He also let me hold it and test run it on the living room floor. It’s been engraved in my mind ever since. This is a huge tick on the to-get list!
This set has oddly had a lot of sentimental value to me even though I got to see the locomotive only once. I was finally able to purchase it today with a nice 3540 add-on! Beautiful set and I can’t wait to run it more!

Things have happened, including this… What you see here is a lineup of every number of Santa Fe F3 Lionel produced during the postwar period, the 2333, 2343, 2353, 2243, and 2383. We have two more 2343s and one more 2243 not shown

I’ve recently been getting more into 2-foot gauge railroads. Of course I had more interest in the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington, but the Bridgton & Saco River has been really interesting lately. No thanks to this book though! Need to get the one by Robert C Jones next.
