Been a struggle to write lately. (Especially with a nine month old.) Finally back on track. Hoping to hit 50k today. Been rewriting this project for years now. It's amazing to see how far it has come.

Sometimes you just have to delete what you have and replot the entire chapter.
As they say, if you, the writer, are bored writing it, so will be the reader.

Sometimes you just have to delete what you have and replot the entire chapter.

Well. Today took a depressive turn. I think I'll skip this chapter and write one in which I can get out my anger on my MC. You know...cause that's a healthy cooping mechanism. 🥴

My advice is, if you are stuck on writing a chapter, read over your entire project. Put it on your kindle. Read it like it's someone else's work. Kicks writer's block in the butt every time for me.

My last project didn't get an agent, however I acquired some amazing feedback. I've been using that feedback to better this project and after reading over this second draft, I'm amazed how much better it sounds vs my old project at this point. Feedback is more vulnerable than gold.

I like imperfect characters. Give me the self-doubt, guilt, trauma. People making mistakes and growing from them. Moments of chaotic madness and feral behaviors. I want the seething anger. The overwhelming sadness. Being out of control of situations. Give me flawed.

When writing you have to constantly stop, stare at your phone for no given amount of time, then type a sentence. Repeat. Coffee. Proceed to pet cat. Type another few sentences and somehow now a book is your hand and you're half way into a high fantasy with names you can't pronounce.
