First things first in #Bratislava
Visiting the memorial for Jan Kuciak and Martina Kusnirova, who were assassinated in 2018. At the time of their murder, they were planning their wedding. Both were 27 years old. Their families continue to fight for justice.

🇸🇰 On 26th and 27th November, I will be in Bratislava together with partners for a media freedom mission to assess the state of press freedom in the country amid a scaling back of democratic freedoms.

We will be engaging with many stakeholders to discuss various issues.

🚀 Council of Europe Training Programme on Countering SLAPPs Launched! 🚀

✅ Aims to enable judges, prosecutors, police officers, and lawyers to recognize and tackle SLAPPs using European standards.
🔄 Adaptable to train environmentalists, journalists, and human rights defenders

✅ Second Anti-SLAPP Conference in Strasbourg: 30 speakers and hundreds of participants from 25 countries

📍 Highlights:
👏 At least six member states are either planning or already started to implement European Anti-SLAPP standards. Slovenia is planning an Anti-SLAPP law. Go Slovenia, go!

On my way to Strasbourg, where CASE, ECPMF, and the CoE will be hosting the second European Anti-SLAPP conference. 30 speakers and around 300 participants from over 25 countries across Europe will be discussing the way forward in implementing newly adopted European standards.

On my way to Warsaw to speak at the Anti-Slapp conference. I will join Maja Sever, Irena Guidikova & Anna Wójcik to discuss the newly adopted CoE and EU instruments on SLAPPs. First time I go after elections & have high hopes for better times for media and journalists in Poland.
