I think it’s because Rob Reiner had a hand in creating some of the most enjoyable art for American culture while also just being an extremely lovable person for decades. His lost impacts the American psyche over generations. America loved him and you can’t shit on someone like that. Even trump.
I don’t know what it is about the Rob Reiner situation in particular, but I’ve never seen one of these Trump posts draw as much criticism and condemnation from MAGA/conservative folks as this one has.
Not suggesting he’s losing his coalition or praising them, it’s just interesting that this was it.
