I think arteta saw that the game state was more suitable for gyokeres in the final 20 tonight and fancied our chances of closing out the game on a counter. Exactly what happened in the end so hopefully it’s just that and he gets some minutes against kairat next week

Agree with this. Part of me says we went to a tough ground against a manager we always struggle against, created enough to win and gave them nothing and are 7 points clear in January. But we were BAD and just can’t help thinking you have to win these games in a title race. We will see in May!

I think Maresca is a good manager but he hasn’t been able to change the culture in the way arteta has. Some of that to do with the recruitment of young ‘star’ players, but you also need a manager that can make that shift. On their day they can beat anyone but too much inconsistency game 2 game
