Adorable orange tabby curled up on my desk, his little pink toes resting on my laptop. Front paws curled up under his chin. My desk is situated over a radiator so the table top is nice and warm (it’s -1 F outside right now)

An orange tabby is curled up asleep atop a yellow legal pad next to a laptop computer on my desk. A useless ballpoint pen is next to the pad of paper since I certainly won’t move him to write anymore. His little paws are curled up under his chin & he is distractingly adorable.

Washington Post reports that people who cover or mar Dear Thin-skinned Leader’s face on the new national park pass may be accused of “fraud” and have to buy another pass. I guess they know that people will want to, um, get creative. Posting just a screen shot of the full story.

The year we got this goofball Noodle we decided not to get a tree & instead put Christmas lights on our drying rack. Good thing. We had put skeleton lights on it, and Noodle enjoyed biting the legs off. We found little plastic legs around the house for months.

Today at our faculty meeting I received the highest, most prestigious honor one can get.
Yes, the 2025 Faculty Ugly Christmas Sweater award.
A close up of the winning fashion design! Sweater is a patterned aqua & white design but appliquéd on the front is Rudolph the reindeer barfing up a big green blob that spreads across the front of the sweater. In the green textured blob are stitched on green plastic jewels to provide an extra soupçon of holiday cheer. It is a masterpiece if I do say so myself.

Last year on my birthday we rescued this skinny but sweet tabby cat. It took some patience for the other two to embrace their new brother but a year later, Toby is a comfortable happy boy & all three sleep with us every night. Deep rumbly purrs, Toby, & happy adoption day 😻

Here are our Purr Queens, Lilliput & Esmeralda. Lilli, my constant companion, had a slow growing cancer that stopped responding to treatment; the day after she died Esmé suddenly took sick and died a few days later, Nov 20. Worst thanksgiving we ever had, missing these two friends. Still miss them.

I was at a conference in the Netherlands last summer that was using AI to add text on big screens as the speaker presented. I don’t recall what the speaker was saying but I’m positive it wasn’t “Yao am I van Yao pom?”

We’re having thunderstorms that startle cats into weird shapes.

My mom was a big fan of Longfellow so maybe that’s where she got it. I have her copy of collected works where she’s written inside, “This book was presented to me by my dear Uncle Cornelius in 1933 as a gift.”

Five months ago when we resurrected Toby, the tabby on the left, I thought this day would never happen.
Toby, a tabby cat, lies peacefully on a window seat pillow next to Noodle, an orange tabby. They are curled up within inches of each other. There’s an open window behind them that’s out of the frame.
