30th June - LESSER EMPEROR on the bottom lagoon.

6th June - Little Egret and Shelduck on the Middle Lagoon. Also Red Kite and Hobby.

2nd June, WHINCHAT on the plateau.

1st June - Hobby and 3 Raven. Yesterday 7 Crossbill flew low South and Wigeon.

30th May - Wigeon on the Spit and a Red Kite over the Bottom Lagoon.

On the 28th Green Sandpiper flew South East. First for the year and notable for May.

24th May - 2 Dunlin on the Spit. Female Peregrine through middle lagoon. Also 2 Egyptian Geese and a Common Tern. Yesterday Hobby hawking insects on the bottom lagoon.

21st May - Dunlin on the Bottom Lagoon. Grey Wagtail on the Middle Lagoon. Also 2 Common Tern and a Hobby.

18th May - Great White Egret flew North.

17th May - Whimbrel flew north-west. Sad to report more vandalism on the Park. Funds for this picnic bench were raised to replace the one damaged previously. We still have another to repair due to fire damage. Such a blow for the bench users and people who work to improve the Park.

13th May - Red Kite over the fields to the south-west.

11th May - Egyptian Goose (2), Hobby and White Wagtail.
10th May - Common Tern and Common Sandpiper (2). Also least 10 Green Hairstreak, 2 Dingy Skippers, a Small Copper and a Holly Blue.
9th May - HOOPOE briefly, Hobby and Cuckoo.

8th May - 2nd summer Yellow-legged Gull. Common Sandpiper on the Middle Lagoon. 2 Water Rail and a male Mandarin.

6th May - BLACK-TAILED GODWIT flew north-east. Also Fallow Deer, first record. 27th Mammal species. Thank you Paul Naylor for the photos.

29th April - Wheatear Middle Lagoon, also Hobby.

Plateau - Dingy skipper, Mother Shipton moth, Small Heath Butterfly, Green Hairstreak, Latticed Heath moth and Teneral Blue Damselfly all seen flying in first five minutes.

28th April - WHIMBREL Middle Lagoon and flew North-west. Lesser Whitethroat Top Lagoon. White Wagtail Middle Lagoon East side. 2 Swifts over Middle Lagoon.

NEWSTEAD & ANNESLEY COUNTRY PARK

25th April - Cuckoo flew North-east.
26th April - WHINCHAT north side of Middle Lagoon. GREAT WHITE EGRET briefly on spit and in the reeds before heading North-east. Also 2 male Mandarin.

19th April - 2 Shelduck flew West. Also Little Egret, 5 Oystercatcher, Common Sandpiper and Raven.
20th April - Garden Warbler. Earliest by 4 days.
22nd April - Wheatear Middle Lagoon. Also 2 Shelduck, Common Sandpiper and Muntjac.
24th - 2 Shelduck, 2 Mandarin, Tree Pipit and Fieldfare.
