i recommend starting really simple, with cubes and cuboids and slowly working your way up from there. building other people's models is always a great way to learn new tricks. if you can grab a copy of Urban Paper, it's a great book for this

they're designed to work on anything 120gsm and up! personally i've switched to 300gsm card more recently because i do a lot of double sided printing for client projects but anything between those two should work fine :)

i'd also suggest printing on matte card and avoiding gloss

makes sense to me. i kind of miss when you didn't need to have an online persona and edit videos and learn social marketing and grow a following and engage with community etc etc tec

i feel that. it feels like now you have to be a personality, your art can't speak for itself in a sea of loud voices and so you have to speak for it and then it becomes more about how likable you are rather than the art you make.

i always kind of resent having to do so much on social media

there used to be a papertoy message board called 'Nice Paper Toys' and it was incredible, the inherent structure of a forum like that meant there were so many collaborations going on and friends to make without ever feeling like you were competing for attention/likes/commissions.

perhaps i'm showing my age here a little but i think short form video content feeds is so bad for you that one day we're going to see it regulated in a way similar to smoking

i avoid iit as much as possible and still find myself getting sucked in occasionally.

the older i get, the more i realise the best thing that ever happened to me was figuring out what i wanted to do with my life and it being a goal i could realistically work towards when i was still so young.

i've never had to worry about not knowing what to do with my life
