Having just finished a rewatch of the classic BOX OF DELIGHTS this is a book full of promise, from probably the leading expert on John Masefield, and with an inciteful foreword by @pierstorday.bsky.social

The first paper Christmas card has arrived at home, triggering the thought that it’s time to start sharing everyone’s favourite festive season weird Victorian examples.

We kick off being giving the greetings of the season in the traditional way … by a giant anthropomorphic onion in stripy socks.
