A lot of people are being almost willfully dense about this, including Jay et al, but like... it's not purely about Jesse Singal, it's about Singal against the backdrop of incredibly ban-happy moderation. i often wonder if timelines were slightly shifted. if it began six months later and closed six months later, would it have closed at all? would the xitter exodus have buoyed the user numbers above certain thresholds? so many better worlds were narrowly in reach but not in this one's grasp
