I bought a small buzzer so I hope that I can make it do some noise! I.e. door closed for x seconds -> start the buzzing until someone opens the door

I feel like a kid on Christmas! To be honest it was a few years since I tinkered with it. It was some of the projects described in the starter kit. I think I used Arduino IDE. Are there better options?

That would be awesome! I was planning to use a reed switch module to detect proximity. Do you think it will work or is there a better approach?
