This Just In: Veganism Has Died... Again

Media keeps declaring veganism dead while ignoring the obvious: vegan restaurants are harder to run, more labor-intensive, and undervalued. I call bullshit.

The American people were lied to about Vietnam, with tragic consequences.

The American people were lied to about Iraq, with tragic consequences.

The American people are being lied to again today. We cannot allow history to repeat itself.

New blog, "6 Years of Foodhisattva—or Has it Been 11 (or More)?"

"A personal reflection from the chef-owner of Foodhisattva, a vegan kitchen born from punk roots, pop-ups, and persistence. Six years of heartbreak, community, laughter, and food—told without filters or fluff."

Recognition isn’t why we cook—but it helps us keep cooking. We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to vote. I wrote a few thoughts about the strange world of local food awards—and where we fit (or don’t).

Cooking in Cleveland often means choosing between what sells and what matters. This piece explores that tension—the quiet cost of thoughtful craft in a market that favors the familiar.

New blog, in my FMC series: Why is this so expensive?

If you're interested in vegan restaurant life, small biz blogs, or chef talk in general, you may dig my writing. If not, you probably won't.

Why is this so expensive?
“Why is this so expensive?” is less a question and more a coded complaint. But if you really want to know, I’m an open book—and what’s inside isn’t pretty.

New blog dropped. You may have heard a Northeast Ohio "vegan" restaurant announced they were adding meat to their menu. This is my response to that news.

Let me know your thoughts.

I have a new blog series over at Foodhisattva.com called Exhausted Flames. It's mostly rants on restaurant life, foodie culture in Cleveland and beyond, and whatever else I'm thinking about at the end of a long day in the kitchen.

Trump has unleashed economic chaos by violently tariffing the world, with the exception of Russia... I wonder why?

That said, he's helping China build lasting trade partnerships with everyone the US is now alienating. That's the world, with a few exceptions (US and Russia.)

And we're paying!

The AP reports that Bernie Sanders is drawing larger crowds than in his 2020 run. He’s touring places Harris lost to Trump and connecting with more Americans than Democratic leadership has since Obama. Meanwhile, Democrats have lost control of every house and have no leader. (1/2)

Russia's propaganda network TASS was in the oval office as Zelenskyy was violently harassed by Agent Orange and his regime. You know who wasn't there, the international Associated Press. This is treason.

Today I told a customer who voted for Trump, "at 94 you almost outlived US democracy. If only you hadn't fooled yourself." He looked annoyed.

Last time I saw him I told him "if your memory was better, you would have known the red hats were Nazi's too". He looked annoyed.

You can report Google Maps idiotic US Gulf of Mexico name change to Google.

It probably won't have an effect, but at least it sends data to Google letting them know we know they're fucking morons.

Why do Republicans support Tariffs that drive up the cost of living? Answer: it won't for those they care about, the rich who receive massive tax breaks. Drive up the cost of living, make life more expensive for everyday Americans, and make them indentured servants to the rich. That's Project 2025.

Let's keep raising costs and alienating our allies until most of us starve and our neighbors decide to give up on trade partnerships with the US altogether, opting for more appreciative partnerships that will boost their economies!....

As bodies are still being pulled from the Potomac, Donald Trump and his grossly incompetent administration are blaming this deadly crash on minorities and white women. This is disgusting, racist and sexist. Their reckless actions have consequences and they should be held accountable.
