RIP to one of the best bottles of rum I've ever owned. This thing tasted amazing and had a smell I wish I could wear as a cologne. Up spirits!

The guy at Savenor's told me that I was buying an "impressive" amount of bones. I wish I could send him a picture of all the stock I'm making with them. This is about half of what I need to can tonight (once I filter it a bit).

Just wrote a 30 line comment that boils down to "this is bullshit, but it fixes much worse bullshit, and I am making it load-bearing bullshit". QtQuick is such a joy to work with.

New All Them Witches track? It's nice and heavy, kinda getting into Doom territory at points. Charles Michael Parks Jr. really has a great voice for somber music. #music

Does anyone know of a service, either in the #boston area or online, that will 3D print models in small or one-off batches? I have some ideas for dumb/fun art projects but I don't have space in my apartment for a 3D printer.

Went to The Hollows in Teele for dinner tonight. Great atmosphere, immaculate decor, good service, good drinks and snacks, but the dinner was lacking. Potato crusted haddock was bland (OK, blander than it should be), and the pork tagliatelle was […]

I have an old laptop with a cracked shell that I'm looking to repurpose. I'm considering disconnecting the display and tossing the shell. The RAM is soldered in. Does that make it an SBC?

I just learned about the Ubisoft situation and subsequent strike. 100% solidarity with those folks. The lack of job stability in video games is a big part of why I left, and one of the things that keeps me from going back. Yves Guillemot should resign and the rest of the board should be ashamed […]

OK WTF I went to two dentist appointments on Monday and now #tunetuesday is #dentistandteeth songs? This is too weird. Anyway here's People Under the Stairs with Teeth, a song about going to a lot of dentist appointments: https://youtu.be/cOe0VRb6jRk

Last time my wife was in post-partum recovery a Korean friend told us about miyeokguk, which is a seaweed and beef soup that is super nutritious and nourishing. She made us a big pot that disappeared in a day. I am currently making 2 gallons of the stuff which will be processed into jars […]

I've been reading up on using a Raspberry Pi for a Network Attached Storage solution and I just gotta say: shout-out to the #homelab community for not running with the obvious (and crass) name for this project.

I've been back-to-back sick for literally months but today was the first day in a while that I felt well enough to have a drink, so I made myself a hot rum toddy with lime and honey. Reader: it was gooooood

My wife came back from her hair appointment in Chinatown with a box of zong-zi from Ho Yuen Bakery and some niangao from Taiwan Cafe, and it made me super nostalgic for working in Chinatown. Might be my favorite part of the city. I ate good today too.

I need some #pottery help. I have this #ceramic cup that I pretty much exclusively use for beer. It's allegedly dishwasher safe. I just poured some hot water in it for tea, and rather quickly it started to feel sticky on the outside. If you look at it […]

I was out until 1AM yesterday digging out my family's cars. I got into one of them to back it out of the giant drift that had formed around it, and Spotify started autoplaying when I turned the car on.

For #tunetuesday, the theme is #mynameis: songs with a person's name in the title.

This is "Alex Chilton" by The Replacements. The band was such a fan of Chilton's music that they wrote a song about him. Apparently the chorus is what the singer said to Chilton the first time he met him. He was […]

There's part of me that thinks that dudes with snowblowers are peak masculinity. Walking around in brutal conditions, helping neighbors by casually throwing hundreds of pounds of snow with big loud machines.

I gotta say the whole heat pump thing is cool right up until the point where you're worried about losing power and not sure if your backup furnace is lit.

Two things I really don't like are: Cards Against Humanity, and the culture of internet self-diagnosis. So of course I pull this at the office holiday Yankee Swap.
