It was really satisfying to have to play so honestly because of the lack of bombs. I feel like I really learned the game.

Also lol this always happens to me. Why can’t my high score be my 1-all?! I do wish shmups rewarded the clear more points-wise.

Bullet hell is a genre that has an optics problem. The genre name and their aesthetics make them appear crazy hard when compared to traditional shmups, but give a player an hour with Gradius and DoDonPachi back to back and 9/10 times the player will say DDP is the easier game.

Oh no that should be good then. I would look into the different versions and trying original and maniac as well. I’m also unsure how emulation slowdown is compared to the ports, but the steam port is pretty feature-rich and accurate.

Woah! Missed this. Glad you came around! The Blue Revolver tracks are amazing for sure.

Definitely my biggest problem with the game as well. Reminds me or when I cleared Mahou. Having all the difficulty at the end just makes the game annoying to clear and makes the game feel slower and more of a slog.

Recovery in classic shmups is such a sticking point for me. I still see something as hard as a cave 2-all being “fair”, but a classic shmup that is nigh impossible after a single death is bad difficulty imo. Most I can handle is something like thunder force 4 where you lose one type of weapon.
