With the rain came the roses, it's all they needed to burst forth. It's a pity the next downpour will probably ruin them but at least they add a little bit of colour for a short while.

Go away for a couple of weeks and the local wildlife take advantage.

It would be fair to say the log I acquired yesterday is a tad on the large side and may take some working out on where best to start 🤔

As quack quack oops moments go, this is high up the list 🤬

I've been a bit quite for a few weeks, that's because I've been working to turn 1600 reclaimed parquet flooring blocks into 530 squares to be layed in two weeks, destination TBA.
Just grooves and false tongues to make then package up for shipping in 4 days.

A word on who I will and won't follow on here;
If your bio starts with or even mentions your political views then you won't get a follow back from me.

However, if your bio mentions forestry, nature, furniture, animals, preferably dogs rather than cats or border collies then you're in with a chance.

I looked at these Oak sticks nearly 12 months ago, since then I've been let down by 2 different contractors being payed to move them for me.
I'm hoping third time lucky this week because I need to get them milled and the drying process started.

I start work next week after a 6 week break for heart op recovery and one of the first jobs is a client wants me to drive over to Isle of Wight (440 mile round trip) to finish/continue the work at one of their houses.
Fortunately I'll be sharing the driving.
What it is to be popular 😆

This stack of Sweet Chestnut planks is 8' high, 4' deep and with exception of the top 8 planks 12' long.
All cut from the one tree that I fell early Feb 2023, the planks will be heading indoors this spring as their MC will be acceptable level for use.

@magwitchery.bsky.social welcome to this new and slightly odd place, although that could be the people who inhabit it.
I'm trying not to be too serious here.

If you have a Dr's surgery with 7 Dr's would it not follow that you'll need the same number of nurses.
Told by Dr I needed blood pressure tests, receptionist said first available appointment was 4 weeks away because they only have 3 nurses.

Taken hound for an early walk to escape the house this afternoon, SWMBO has a friend round from one of her U3A groups and apparently has let slip what I do for a living.
Never quite sure what they might try to weedle out of me particularly as they're wanting to set up a men/women-in-sheds group.

Genuine question;
Do people really enjoy the countless number of humourless dramas that TV companies insist on making and airing these days?
I don't know about you but I watch TV for entertainment and escapism not to be reminded of how scary the world is, that's what the news channels are for.

DiL drives milk tankers and got stuck with the festive days and new years day collections.
She asked her boss if it'd be OK to wear something other than the uniform and he said "as long as you wear a hi-vis I don't care what your wear".
So she wore a reindeer onesie!

Filled out the online triage form for a GP appointment this morning, got a touch of BPPV brought on by to much dairy over the festivities I suspect.
The second to last question reads "what would you like us to do?"
Which as questions go is bloody stupid, I'm a patient in pain you're a Dr work it out

As Christmas day picnics go yesterday, the weather yesterday was perfect, sunshine and quite mild.
How ever you spent your Christmas I hope you had a wonderful time with those you love.

I bought something at auction a few weeks back, not the thing I'd originally intended to buy but something better.
A Napoleon III style amboyna decanter box, minus the glass.

Phone call out of the blue this week, a follower on twit had been looking at my website and wanted to buy this octagonal Oak coffee table I made as part of a collection of furniture in March 2011 from locally grown timber.
The pieces were shown at self financed exhibitions from 2009-2013

1 week into my forced rest, I've watched more films in the last few days than watched all year!
Found a complete set of Discworld on audiobook, working my way through those and at the insistence of SWMBO I'm starting to write my memoir, which is both scary and interesting in equal measures

"Your book is really FANTASTIC. I couldn’t put it down. It is charming, and heart-warming (I actually wept when **spoiler alert**), and beautifully paced. And a lovely mix of traditional adventure with environmental education." - A review from someone not aged 8-13. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1068...

For the friends that followed me from the other place, the heart procedure went well and I've now got 6 weeks of recovery ahead.
