Isn't ball flight a product of exit velocity and launch angle?

I'd love to learn about the "hit" tool. I've always been amazed when incredible athletes, those with great hand eye coordination, can't put it together at the plate. How do teams improve one's approach? I've heard the word aptitude in regards to playe approach.
