I may be done with 2025 but 2025 may not be done with me yet. 😕

While I never purposely set out to collect A Charlie Brown Christmas variants, I have been collecting Vince Guaraldi PEANUTS releases for some time and somewhere along the way of going into different stores here and there, I'd see a variant and purchase it. Before I knew it, a collection had begun.

Collecting can be a rather ridiculous activity but for better or worse, there is something in collecting that activates that primal gatherer part in our brain and fills us with a (subjective?) sense of meaning. But I digress, here are three (out of 4 I believe) Golden Foil sleeve variants from 2022.

Never ceases to amaze just how much this soundtrack has found its way to so many tie-in variants. From fashion, collectibles, comics, bookstores, general merchandising. The list goes on. Also, a lot of people don't realize this but listening to this album was their first ever introduction to jazz.

Next on the A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack collection are picture disc variants including a Zoetrope variant. I think it wasn't until Craft and Fantasy records began releasing picture discs that this soundtrack became a serious collectible item with prices on the 2nd market becoming ludicrous.

Continuing on the previous A Charlie Brown Christmas post. 2020 saw an irresistible release with a Lenticular sleeve and four vinyl variants of green, red & green split, snowflake picture disc and clear with red and green splatter. Apologies the camera could not pick the Lenticular effect.

Only 10 days until xmas eve and staying in theme by sharing three out of 30 variants I've collected (since 2009) of Vince Guaraldi Trio's A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The first vinyl copy I owned on green vinyl, the 2lp deluxe edition, and a 2nd green copy signed by the original 1965 choir singers.

I have an immense affection for Henson's legacy and when my daughter was born, it seemed natural to share that affection with her. Big memories of parenthood forever attached to these records.

Every year, for one month only, I reach out to a vinyl crate I have in the studio and play-with great relish-every album inside of it.

December is that month and these are the 4 albums I've enjoyed so far. 🎄☃️🎅🍍

Another Vince Guaraldi PEANUTS soundtrack vinyl post in honor of Thanksgiving. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving had its television premiere on CBS in November 20th, 1973. The special continued to air every year on CBS (except on 1982, 1983 1988) through 1989.

5 vinyl variant releases.

A cousin recently shared this magnificently preserved picture and I can’t stop looking at it. Maternal grandmother sits on the far right, she is the youngest, sharing space along great aunts and uncles. Picture was taken late 1910s.

We’ve had rain for 2 days in a row. Missing clear skies and getting around on the 🏍️.

John Benchmark, named after John Bull. I’m guessing there were enough British expats out here in this area in the 1960s to influence the naming process.

Back on the grind today but grateful for family and for this past weekend. It was idyllic and full of love.

I got mail.

Last week I attended a screening of 1925's The Phantom Of The Opera w/a live orchestra performing Roy Budd's score. At the time I didn't know the background story to the score (look it up) but was so moved by it I had to get a copy of film/score.

A few random things:

- Skyfall is not only a great Bond film. It's great cinema as well.

- Roughly 80% of the music I've purchased in 2025 has been by female artists or groups led by a female vocalist.

- This month marks 4 years since I last imbued an alcoholic beverage.

- I miss this view.

Continuing on yesterday's Vince Guaraldi theme and in honor of yesterday's US elections, here are 2 variants of CBS 1972 Peanuts special You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown. This long out print soundtrack was re-released last year to coincide with last years presidential election.

I may or may not have mentioned this in the past. My only music vice is collecting Vince Guaraldi Peanuts TV broadcast soundtracks and Wes Anderson film Soundtracks. In honor of Halloween having just passed, here are variants from the 1966 CBS TV broadcast of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Attended an ABBA/Queen candlelight concert this past weekend. It was held at a church which as a venue is always a bit problematic for me because of the religious aspect of it. However, the acoustics were undeniably superb as were the musicians performance.
