As we both drift off I decide; no more
I raise from my seat and quietly shut the car door
Carefully over the rocks I step
Then pick one low and dry to stop and rest

Who's coming over?
Knock knock knock
What do they want?
Click click click
Do I have to smile?
Blah blah blah
Why do I respond?
Bang bang bang
How don't I react?
Pow Pow pow
It only gets louder?
Tap tap tap
I'm going home.

My favorite color:
I've always known my favorite color
They would ask and I'd act like I need time to think
Taking my time before I speak
"Red," I say with a smile
Red like blood or a rose or a cherry

The Restaurant:
The same seat same place
Same food and same plate
The sound of steps as they pass by
My head is low my eyes on the sky
No less blue than it was before
Another group walks through the door
My head on your shoulder as I take your hand
Each time a bit colder but the comfort still there
