But your post makes no mention of the 90s, so how can we say gig work is more prevalent now? If supplemental gig work follows the same pattern as primary gig work, then even if it's a higher proportion of the population at any given time it may be less common than the 90s.

Do you have the results of the linked survey over time, like the BLS data? Should we assume the trend (of supplemental gig work) is different from the trend in primary gig work?
